United States (U.S.) proved to have a debt amounting to USD1, 2 billion or approximately Rp10, 7 trillion (Rp8.923 per USD) to the United Nations (UN). The number is equivalent to one quarter in arrears contributions from members of the UN group.
Deputy Secretary-General for Management Angela Kane affairs of states, only 13 of 192 UN countries who pay the full bill on the organization. While the total arrears alone reached $ 4, 1 billion or approximately Rp35, 6 trillion.
While the administration of President Barack Obama, has paid all the money they stump to the UN last year. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations itself claims if his country had paid its obligations to the UN on time. So reported Reuters on Friday (15/10/2010).
But the U.S. side said there were some arrears that are not approved by the Washington to the United Nations. As a major financial contributor to the UN, the U.S. is responsible for a quarter of the budget funds for UN peacekeeping forces and a quarter of the UN regular budget.
U.S. itself is known to frequent late payment obligations to the UN. Uncle Sam's country argue if the United Nations met by a corrupt and wasteful bureaucracy.
