Obama Say Congratulations to Elected President of Egypt


WASHINGTON - President of the United States (U.S.) Barack Obama for president-elect said the Egyptian, Mohammed Morsi. Congratulated Obama on his victory in the election and offered U.S. assistance to Egypt's transition to democracy.

"President Obama expressed interest to cooperate with President Morsi on the basis of mutual respect. Hopefully, Egypt and the U.S. can conduct cooperation in various fields," said the White House, as quoted by The Washington Post, Monday (25/06/2012).

"(President) Morsi also said his appreciation for Obama's speech. Himself appreciate the U.S. support of the transition in Egypt," said the White House.

For Obama, the victory of the Muslim Brotherhood (IM) and the Presidential Election Morsi in Egypt is expected to not be disturbing the relations between Egypt and Israel that have been established so far. Despite all its faults, the former President Hosni Mubarak was honored by the U.S. because of the pressure remained in the country, to cut ties with Israel Egypt.

Morsi now have to work hard to be a unifier of its citizens, after the resignation of Mubarak from power. Obama even entertain the former Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq, who lost the election.

"Shafiq should play an important role in politics in Egypt with the support of democracy and work together to unite the citizens of Egypt," said Obama.

Morsi Egypt won the election year which stood at 51.7 percent of the vote. The 60-year-old engineer, became a symbol of the victory of the Muslim Brotherhood, which has always led Husni Mubarak of Egypt's political marginalization.
