OTTAWA - To conduct activities dealing communicate through cyberspace, you're probably already familiar with Skype or iChat video. Now, the latest technology allows you to converse with the use of holographic virtual 3D.
Reported by the SMH, Tuesday (08/05/2012), researchers from Queen's University in Canada has created a 3D video conferencing pod that allows users to be able to see a person in person with the ability to view 360 degrees. In addition, the technology also gives you the opportunity to be able to perform activities to communicate or talk with a holographic basis.
The developers call it by name TeleHuman, just like on Star Trek series. Reportedly, the technology will work with the media giant cylinder-shaped floor lamp that can display a life-sized images (similar to human height).
3D holographic technology that seemed so futuristic. "We basically bring together a group of technologies together Kinect. However, it is relatively complicated to find all of the technology to work together," said Director of the Human Media Lab at Queen's University, Roel Vertegaal.
In a 3D Holographic video about the project, the researchers explain that the pod (such as a display screen view) has six Microsoft Kinect sensor located above the display. For those of you who are curious, the video can be watched via this link.
The sensor is capable of capturing 3D images, and projectors to create a holographic effect. Reportedly, the technology, dubbed TeleHuman will be priced at approximately USD5000 or approximately Rp45 million.
