MILAN
- AC Milan veteran defender Alessandro Nesta announced he will leave
the Rossoneri at the end of this season to continue his career outside
of Europe.
36-year-old contract runs out in June of this coming. Nesta himself has ten seasons after dibyong defend Milan from Lazio in 2002 with a dowry amounting to 30.5 million euros.
Previously, Nesta had been linked with a move to Juventus this season, but he stressed that he will no longer play in European competitions. According to him, the older the age that makes him difficult to compete with the speed that dominated the competition in Europe.
"Italian and European football is too fast for me right now," said Nesta as reported by the Guardian, Thursday (05/10/2012). "If I do not feel important, I prefer to stay home," he continued.
"I've won so much, but to respect the club and teammates, I have decided to try a different experience at the club where I can do something good," explained this former Italian international defender.
Since arriving at the San Siro, Nesta has helped Milan win two Scudetto and two Champions League trophies, as well as the other titles in the Club World Cup. Nesta claims will not forget the beautiful moments with the Rossoneri.
"My first Champions League win is the best memory I have with this club," he said.
"I left Milan with disappointment, because we hope to win the league, which we think still within our reach," he explained.
"I do not know how the future of Milan, because there is a group of players who will leave the club in the summer," he said.
Asked about his future, Nesta is not yet decided what the next step, but he acknowledged, Major League Soccer (MLS) United States is an exciting destination for him.
"I do not know where I will go, because I have not signed any contract," he said.
"It would not be bad to play in MLS, now I do not have another offer," he said.
