various parties in Indonesia are ready to welcome, secure, and utilize the best possible official visit President of the United States Barack Obama to Jakarta. Obama is scheduled to arrive in Jakarta today and left for South Korea, Wednesday.
U.S. Ambassador to Dino Patti Djalal at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday (11/08/2010), said the arrival of President Obama to Indonesia marked increase in Indonesia-US relations through a strategic partnership. Obama and President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to declare a strategic partnership today.
"Indonesia-US relations are now more structured. It reflects the relationship between Indonesia and the U.S. experienced a significant transformation and improvement," said Dino.
Obama's brief visit will also be utilized to increase the value of trade and investment and technology transfer. "There is a great desire to increase investment and trade between countries. Now (Indonesia-US trade value) just reached 20 billion U.S. dollars. We also wanted the transfer of technology from the U.S.," said Coordinating Minister Hatta Rajasa.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs confirmed, the visit of Indonesian President Obama to continue to run as planned despite there are fears the eruption of Mount Merapi volcanic ash can be hazardous to aviation.
"Weather forecasters show we can and will be landing in Jakarta. The schedule has not changed," Gibbs said in New Delhi, India, Monday.
Police and army are also ready to secure Obama's visit in Jakarta. Head of Information Department of the Army Brigadier General Widjanarko revealed, all components of the Army in Jakarta mobilized to secure the visit of U.S. president.
Special forces from the three dimensions of the TNI, the Army Special Forces, Detachment Jala Mengkara Navy, and Air Force Detachment Bravo, will be operated in a joint anti-terror task force, joint support 13,000 personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya and Jaya Regional Military Command.
Jakarta Police Chief Inspector General Sutarman admit, there are masses of Hizb ut-Tahrir group and NGOs will flag rallied when Obama came. However, they are only allowed to march within 100 yards of the points to be visited Obama. "Go ahead and march, but do it the right way," said Sutarman.

President Obama returned to the State Palace for a dinner with President Susilo Bambang Yudhyono. After the banquet dinner, the 44th U.S. President returned to the Hotel Shangri La for a break.
