User Blog Down 4%, Social Networking Up 20%

- The company social media consultant, Trendstream reported a significant change in the participation in the virtual world.


In a study titled Global Web Index, as quoted by Mashable, Thursday (1/13/2011), found that the social web is no longer the place to create personal content but a place to share content in real-time professional.

This report results from a survey involving 51 000 Internet users around the world during July 2009 to September 2010.

Within these, the number of Internet users who participated in the online world of static has decreased. Static online world in question is a blog and forums, each of which decreased approximately 4 percent and 11 percent.

In contrast, participants in a dynamic online world, kind of microblogging and social networking, has experienced growth of 20 percent.

Platform kinds of Twitter and Tumblr comes after Facebook. Although both are experiencing an average growth of the same but still dominates social networking social web to the category of real-time or dynamic online world.

Respondents who admitted to update social networking accounts of each day was two-fold more than those who claim to update the microblogging accounts. From the number of users who constantly updating social networking, only 29 percent who claimed to also use micro-blogging.

Number of users who admitted posting links microblogging news or a particular product also rose 10 percent turned out in number this year. Conversely, users who post photos personal microblogging instead fell 5 percent.
