Indonesia's New Eco-Friendly Costumes


Nike Caps offer an environmentally friendly costume to be worn during AFF Suzuki Cup 2010. Each shirt is made from recycled polyester 8 bottles plastic.

In a release obtained JAKARTA, Tuesday (11/30/2010), to make the national team costumes, 2010, fabric supplier to Nike collect plastic bottles from various places and melt to produce a new yarn woven into sock material.

This process saves materials and reduces energy consumption up to 30% when compared with the creation of new basic material. By using recycled polyester for their national costumes, Nike has reduced the polyester waste to be dumped into landfill in the world.

Costume national team is an important step in the effort to make Nike's products more environmentally friendly. By using recycled polyester for its new national team costume collection, Nike has taken an active role in environmental conservation efforts by collecting about 5 million tons of plastic bottles for recycling.

Furthermore, all national team costumes have been designed taking into consideration the culture and identity of each country participating. Nike understand the true pride felt by athletes when defending a country, so each costume (authentic version) is designed to highlight cultural identity and unique from each football team.

For costumes Indonesian national team, the design combined with cultural inspiration in the country that became a reference in making this costume concept. Unity in Diversity into inspirational design in determining the message that motivates the national team in the match and included in the design.

Unity in Diversity writings can be found behind the Garuda symbol on the right side of the front uniform. Garuda's wings logo at the neck in the mirror at the same time the state emblem symbolizes national identity.
