California - Supporters of the movement reportedly occupy Wall Street was able to stop the operation of maritime transport in the port city of Oakland, California, United States.
In a written statement on Wednesday (2 / 11) port administrator explained that "The operation in the waters of the largest container port in the United States has been discontinued and will resume when it's safe."
Port of Oakland is the fifth largest in the United States about the size of the cargo, valued at U.S. $ 39 billion a year.
70 percent of exports of goods donated from a number of Asian countries, such as rice, fruits, nuts, electronics, industrial equipment, motor vehicles and parts production by Japanese companies (Toyota, Honda, Nissan) and Korean (Hyundai).
17 percent of the cargo passing through Oakland is also the form of American manufacturing and military applications.
According to city officials, in a protest march on various roads in Oakland has involved almost 4,500 people. Of these, about three thousand activists focus on the port.
Until now, the protest was peaceful and the police presence was minimal.
