New Type of Star Discovered Explosion

CALIFORNIA - Scientists announce a new type of star or supernova explosion, after examining six very bright explosion of an old star in outer space.

The blast was 10 times brighter than ordinary supernova which will form a cloud is the origin of primitive galaxies, allowing scientists to examine the process of formation of a galaxy. Similarly, as quoted from redOrbit, Friday (10/06/2011).

"We're researching a new type of supernova that has never known before," said Robert Quimby, researchers from the California Institute of Technology.

"What we know so far is the size of the explosion was very bright and hot, about 10 thousand to 20 thousand degrees Kelvin. The distribution is also reached 10 thousand kilometers per second," he said.

In addition, Quimby also says that the supernova explosion of new species also have low levels of hydrogen. Requires approximately 50 days for the effects of the explosion was to disappear.

"So there must be factors that cause why the supernova explosion can be very big," said Quimby.

Meanwhile, a French astronomer, Francoise Combes, wrote that the new type of supernova is very interesting, because the light shines 10 times brighter than the others.

Quimby began this research in 2005, when he observed a supernova called SN 2005ap whose light 100 billion times brighter than the sun, and two times brighter than ordinary supernova explosion.

This discovery was first published on June 8, 2011 in the journal Nature.
