LONDON - Despite its form is cute, sheep claimed to be an animal with extraordinary intelligence. Even the sheep are also successful completion of a psychological test that can not be done monkey species.
Before this, the sheep has never been considered as an intelligent animal. But the scientists emphasized that the sheep are actually very smart so they can take the 'executive decision' and has a very strong memory.
Sheep can remember another sheep's face or a man for two years. They also may recall the faces when viewing photos. Thus the results of research scientists at Cambridge University as reported by the Telegraph on Monday (2/14/2011).
Dr. Laura Avanzo and Dr. Jennifer Morton discovered this fact by accident in the middle of their research on Huntingdon disease, which can lead to nerve damage and dementia.
They then tested the seven ewes to perform the usual series of experiments conducted on people with Huntingdon. Each sheep is confronted with a pair of colored buckets, one of which contains food. The researchers exchanged foods from each bucket, while changing the color and shape of the bucket.
The sheep turned out to be aware of changes in color and immediately change their actions, depending on the color pattern that is in front of them. It also happened when they exchanged form of buckets.
This discovery was surprising because normally only humans and some other primate species that can pass this test with ease.
