Obama Accept Gifts from Various World Leader

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama and his family received gifts worth hundreds to thousands of dollars from several world leaders in 2009.

King of Saudi King Abdullah, is the most expensive gift giver, amounting to USD190 thousand, or approximately Rp1, 7 billion.

Meanwhile, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave Obama a pen engraved with the name of the ship antiperbudakan and Winston Churchill biography worth USD16.510 or approximately Rp149 million.

By law, all gifts should be submitted to the U.S. National Archives.

Queen Elizabeth II gave Obama a framed picture of her photos and Prince Philip are worth USD775 or approximately Rp 7 million.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi gave Obama a crystal table, watches and gold ornaments worth USD26.845 glass or approximately Rp242 million.

List of gifts for Obama and his family and the White House are now beginning to be released on Tuesday local time yesterday by the U.S. Treasury Department. Reports the BBC on Wednesday (19/01/2011).

Here are some other hadia received by Obama from other leaders.

- Chinese President Hu Jintao, gives the Obama family pictorial paintings made of silk valued at $ 20 thousand or approximately Rp180 million.

- Israeli President Simon Peres, giving the bronze statue of a girl off flocks of birds which is worth $ 8 thousand, or approximately Rp72 million.

- Pope Benedict XVI, gave mosaic depicting St Peter's square in Rome, a silver key, gold coins and a few books worth $ 7, 905 or approximately Rp71 million.

- Tanzanian President Kikwete Jakaye, giving carved three-foot-tall ebony worth $ 6 thousand, or approximately Rp54 million.
