(Okezone.com) CALIFORNIA - Through a satellite to capture images from the European Space Agency (ESA), reveals former puddles land on Mars. Not only former puddles, some areas on the red planet was ever flooded.

Some time ago, scientists revealed that Mars fulfilled channels like labyrinth, which is taken as evidence that Mars once had large water flooding. The findings are expected to add insight about the role of scientists in the history of Martian water.

Using a radar sensor which is owned by Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, a team of scientists managed to create a map of the three-dimensional (3D) in the region called Elysium Planitia. Current, as proclaimed Sciencefocus, Monday (17/06/2013), flooding ever experienced in the dusty surface of Mars.

A recent picture released by Kasei Valles, which is an expansive system of linked channels that crosses the planet's surface. Whole picture presented Kasei Valles is an amalgamation of a number of photographs of Mars surface water flooding ever experienced.

Image mosaic was put together by the European Space Agency (ESA) of the 67 photos. The photos were taken by a high-resolution stereo camera placed on the Mars Express spacecraft, in orbit around the red planet.

There is a channel system on Mars which covers over 1.5 million square kilometers. The size makes Mars as a planet with the largest channel system.

Flooding that occurred on Mars is believed to be caused by triggered by volcanic activity in the region called Tharsis. The flood is believed to occur at more than 3 billion years ago.

Some Martian landscape torn apart by tectonic activity that caused major flooding. Meanwhile, heat from volcanic eruptions will melt the snow and ice around it to produce muddy water.
