NASA: 4700 Asteroid Will Bumping Earth

NEVADA - A study of United States Space Agency (NASA) identified 4700 potential asteroid approaching the earth. With the identification results, the possibility of the earth 'vulnerable' to attack the asteroid.

Asteroid, known as minor planet or planetoid is sized objects smaller than planets but larger than meteoroids. Asteroids are currently astronomer at the radar and are approaching the Earth. But it took five million miles to penetrate the atmosphere and causing major damage. Thus was launched the Huffington Post, Tuesday (05/22/2012).

Studies reveal that there are a number of asteroids 'potentially dangerous' is part of NASA explorer mission of infrared surveys or WISE. Through a written statement, Program Executive for NASA Near-Earth Object Observation Program, Lindley Johnson explains, "We make a good start in finding objects that have a harmful impact on the Earth."

"We have found a number of asteroids and will take further steps in the next decade to examine the possibility of an asteroid impact on Earth's destruction."

These results indicate the asteroid is more dangerous than previously thought. Currently orbiting asteroid with a low slope, this means that they are parallel to the earth's orbit.

"Our team was surprised to find so many asteroids that HIV-positive tendencies [potentially hazardous asteroids]. Because they tend to approach closer to the Earth," through a written statement of the principal investigator NEOWISE at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Amy Mainzer.

WISE spacecraft has registered hundreds of millions of objects in our solar system, taking approximately 600 asteroids close to Earth.

Based on previous data from the spacecraft, researchers estimated that last year approximately 20 500 asteroids with a diameter of more than 100 meters of the center orbiting close to Earth, but they are not "potentially dangerous."
