Study: Monkeys Understand Basic calculations

LONDON - A recent study conducted by German scientists managed to reveal that in fact the monkey understand basic arithmetic.
Fascicularis Macaca monkey species found success when facing the test calculations made by a team of researchers in Germany Primate Center, Goetitingen, Germany. Similarly, as quoted from Primatology.net, Monday (04/04/2011).
Researcher Vanessa Schmidt and Julia Fischer developed a simple test, in which a monkey faced with two plates, each containing a different number of stones, and if the plate could designate where the largest number of stones will be given prizes.
Tested these monkeys were able to understand the concept of quantity, and 80 percent chose the correct option.
Research using these experiments is not new, previous research done by using objects that can be eaten, in which research subjects might take some amount of food on a plate of their choice.
Type the old experiment was to study the success rate only 69 percent, and showed that impulsive reactions, given that the prize will reduce the assessment of these monkeys in making choices.
Therefore, previous experimental methods for the study may slightly underestimate the ability of an animal.
